You Are More Than What Happened to You | Luke 8:1–3 & Isaiah 43:1 Have you ever allowed one chapter of your life to become the definition of who you are? In this episode of Crowned & Confident, we begin Part Two of our journey into identity by looking at the story of Mary Magdalene. Luke introduces Mary by mentioning that Jesus had delivered her from seven demons. But Scripture does not leave her there. She becomes a devoted follower of Jesus, supports His ministry, and eventually becomes one of the key witnesses to His resurrection. Her past is part of her story—but it is not the whole story. We also turn to Isaiah 43:1, where God says: “I have called you by name; you are mine.” That changes the question. The issue is not whether what happened to you was real. It was. The question is whether what happened to you gets to decide who you are. God Saw the Woman Nobody Else Was Seeing | Leah’s Story Part 2 What happens when you spend years trying to be chosen by someone who never seems to choose you? In this episode of Crowned & Confident, we continue Leah’s story and look at the moment something begins to change in her. Genesis 29 shows us a woman whose first three sons were named from a place of deep longing. Leah hoped that each child might finally make Jacob love her. Her identity had become tied to being chosen by a man who did not give her the love she desperately wanted. But then came Judah. With Judah, something shifts. Leah's attention turns away from Jacob and toward God: “Now I will praise the Lord.” And centuries later, Matthew records Judah in the genealogy of Jesus Christ. The woman who felt unwanted became part of the lineage of the Messiah. That is not a small detail. This episode explores what Leah’s story teaches us about approval, comparison, being chosen, and discovering that being unwanted by a person does not mean you are unseen by God.
